On October 23rd, 2012, Simpson’s Iowa History Center hosted the Iowa premiere of America’s Darling: The Story of Jay N. “Dong” Darling at the Temple for Performing Arts in Des Moines as part of the Wonder of Words Festival. Based on the life and work of longtime Des Moines Register cartoonist ‘Ding’ Darling, an icon in the conservation movement, this documentary focuses on Darling’s pioneering work as a conservationist and cartoonist, including his work that earned him two Pulitzer Prizes and the influence his work had on the American people.
