Mission Statement

Simpson College is committed to providing reasonable accommodations to students with documented disabilities, providing them with equal access to the curriculum, the campus facilities, and all programs and services. Our goal is for students to become self-advocates, who are responsible, resilient, self-aware and engaged in their learning experience at Simpson College.

Simpson does this by:

  • Adhering to the directives of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 and the American with Disabilities Act Amendments Acts of 2008. (ADA Link.)
  • Determining reasonable, appropriate individualized accommodations for students with disabilities that substantially limit one or more major life activities, such as learning.
  • Meeting with all students who have accommodation plans every semester to set goals and review accommodations.
  • Meeting with students as needed to problem solve, develop self-awareness, self-advocacy skills, self-responsibility, to review goals and to provide accountability.
  • Connecting students to necessary resources, such as Writing Across the Curriculum, Assistive Technology Services, Library Services, or Mental Health Services.
  • Consulting with professors and staff and providing on-going staff development opportunities.
