Congratulations from the office of advancement and alumni relations! As you begin the next phase of your Simpson Experience, we hope that you take with you fond memories and lifetime friendships. Upon graduation, you will become part of the Simpson College Alumni Association. There are no dues, but you will enjoy lifelong benefits. It is required that you complete the Graduate Questionnaire distributed by the Office of Career Development and Civic Engagement prior to graduation.  The questionnaire will ensure that you will receive the alumni magazine and are notified of special events, reunions and news from campus. If your contact information changes in the future, please let us know via the Simpson College alumni office website or by calling us at 515-961-1544 or 800-610-6369. Our Simpson alumni are spread throughout the nation and the world. By networking with other proud alumni, you will discover wonderful professional and personal opportunities. OPTION TO ORDER ROSES Each year, the Student Alumni Association sells roses for commencement as a fundraiser for student activities. Roses are red and include a yellow ribbon, a water tube and a personal message from you.   Orders must be submitted by December 4.  You can link to the order form here.

Announcements may be ordered through the bookstore website at or the Herff Jones website.

Your account must be paid in full by December 4, 2015

CAPS AND GOWNS (updated info and deadlines coming soon)

On-campus and Indianola graduates: To order your cap and gown, please go to the Herff Jones website on or before November 3, 2015. Placing your order on-line will guarantee you have the correct size for your height and weight. If you are not able to place an order on or before November 3rd, please call or visit the Simpson College Bookstore. We will have extra caps & gowns available at the bookstore in various sizes but we cannot guarantee we’ll have your exact size. If you have any questions please feel free to call our store at 515-961-1635.   Cap and Gown pick up will begin December 4, 2015.  There is no charge for the cap and gown.

West Des Moines and Ankeny Continuing & Graduate Program graduates: To order your cap and gown, please visit the Simpson College Bookstore website or go to the Herff Jones website on or before November 3, 2015. Placing your order on-line will guarantee you have the correct size for your height and weight. If you are not able to place an order on or before November 3rd, we will have extra caps & gowns available at the bookstore in various sizes but we cannot guarantee we’ll have your exact size. If you’d like to have your cap & gown shipped to either the West Des Moines or Ankeny campuses, please call the bookstore at 515-961-1635 as soon as you place your order on-line to let us know where you’d like to pick up your items. All orders placed online will ship to the Bookstore.  Orders specified to be shipped to the West Des Moines or Ankeny campuses will be SHIPPED TO those locations one week prior to Commencement. To make this request, Continuing and Graduate Program participants should call the bookstore at 961-1635 with their measurements (approximate height and weight). Cap and Gown pick up will begin December 4, 2015.  There is no charge for the cap and gown.

Congratulations on your graduation!  As you prepare to transition to life after college, our team is here to support you in the process of searching for and applying to opportunities.  You are eligible to receive our in-person services – even after graduation – and can stay active on our online job-bulletin, CareerPaths with your alumni status.  In addition to helping you achieve your career goals, our team is also responsible for collecting information on students regarding their post-graduation plans prior to commencement.  Please share your information using this survey : (Click here for survey).

A DVD of the Commencement Ceremony will be available for purchase at a cost of $15.00 each which includes postage.  To reserve your DVD please email:   DVD’s will be mailed the week following commencement for pre-paid orders.  Please make checks payable to : Manda Gibson and mail to Manda Gibson, PO Box 182, Martensdale, IA  50160.

During the Commencement Ceremony each graduate will receive a diploma cover. Diploma’s will be mailed out approximately 6 weeks following the commencement ceremony once all requirements for completion have been met. Your diploma will be mailed to your permanent address on file in the Registrar’s office.

When you check in on commencement day students who are graduating with honors will receive a red and gold neck ribbon with an honors medallion. Students may keep these ribbons and medallions. Honors for the Commencement Ceremony are based on the cumulative GPA and number of earned credits as of October 30, 2015. For more information call the registrar’s office at ext. 1734.

Residence Life will send information in early December to all graduating seniors regarding the check-out procedures. If you have any questions please contact the Department of Residence Life at ext. 1592.

Dunn Library wishes you the best in your lifelong learning adventure – your local libraries will be there! You will receive an e-mail from us in early December if you have any items to return before you leave. If you have any questions, please call Terry Trunnell at ext. 1797.

Exit Counseling
– Federal regulations require all students borrowing under the Federal Perkins or Federal Stafford Loan programs to complete exit counseling prior to graduation. The exit counseling will provide information on your cumulative student loan borrowing and repayment options.

Federal regulations also require TEACH Grant recipients to complete exit counseling prior to graduation in preparation of your teaching commitment. The TEACH Grant exit counseling will prepare you for proper management of your grant should it become payable as a Federal Stafford Loan.

Information regarding your loans, grants, and exit counseling will be provided in December.

If you have a campus mail box and will be participating in graduation make sure to fill out an address card in the Simpson bookstore when you pick up your cap and gown. If you have a campus mail box, but will not be participating in graduation please stop by the mailroom to let them know what your forwarding address will be. First Class mail will be forwarded for one year and magazines for only sixty days. For additional information contact Sue in the Mailroom at 515 961-1638.

A professional photographer will take photographs as each graduate is handed a diploma cover and shakes hands with the President of Simpson College. Proof copies will be mailed to each graduate and prints can be ordered from the photographer. Purchase is optional.

We will not be issuing tickets for your guests, however seating is extremely limited.  Please limit the number of your guests to no more than four people.  Guests should plan to be seated by 9:45 a.m.  Those arriving late will be seated in the overflow area with a live video feed of the ceremony.  There will be a wheelchair available and there are spaces at the end of pews where a wheelchair can be comfortably placed.  Please remember that food and beverages are not allowed inside the chapel.
