When should first year students apply?
Simpson College accepts applications on a rolling basis. Simpson begins accepting applications in August. Students can apply using our online application or through the Common Application. Students may also download a pdf of the application and mail it to the Office of Admissions.
Where can I find a counselor recommendation form?
You can access the counselor recommendation form here. We also accept counselor recommendation forms through the Common Application. This report is an important component of the evaluation process and we value your time and professional judgment of your applicant(s). Your review will be considered seriously by the admission committee.
Should my student apply to Simpson?
Simpson takes a holistic approach to admissions. Each applicant is reviewed individually by an admissions committee including admissions staff and academic deans. Members of the committee consider various academic factors and secondary factors as indicators of a student’s potential to succeed in Simpson’s rigorous liberal arts curriculum. Primary factors include, but are not limited to, high school GPA, course selection, ACT or SAT scores, and academic achievement. Secondary factors include, but are not limited to, extracurricular activities, awards, service, community involvement, work experience and the required essay.

What courses are required to be accepted to Simpson?
Simpson College does not require a specific set of courses to be admitted. However, the admissions committee does consider class choice when reviewing an applicant for admission. The admissions committee likes to see students challenge themselves in high school with academic courses, as opposed to excessive elective courses or off periods.
How many years of a foreign language are required?
Simpson does not require a specific number of years in a foreign language. Similar to the answer above, the admission committee will consider course choice in high school, but a student has the potential to be admissible, regardless of the number of years of a foreign language completed.
