I enjoy being a part of team that prepares highly qualified teachers to enter the classroom. I came to Simpson in 2004 and became department chair in 2012. I have taught Foundations of Education, Student Development and Learning, and Classroom Management. I decided to join the faculty at Simpson College because of their commitment to teaching and learning, and our students. While I get the opportunity to conduct research, the priority at Simpson is teaching. And teaching is my passion! I also enjoy the opportunity to really get to know my students. Class sizes are small so I know each of my students. I also have the opportunity to see my students outside the classroom, whether it is on the stage or playing field. Since we live just a few blocks from the college, I regularly attend campus concerts, performances and games. My favorite Simpson tradition is Yell Like Hell, when students express their homecoming spirit with high energy routines. I also enjoy reading a good mystery (when I can’t figure out what happened until the last page!), time with my family, and attending concerts (Summerfest is our favorite!).
