B.A. Athletic Training & History, Simpson College, 2009.
Simpson College has been my “unofficial” home since 2005 when I started my undergraduate career. During my time at Simpson, I had an outstanding experience as I explored multiple interest areas, before finally settling on double majoring in Athletic Training and History. Both of those fields challenged me in different ways, but they also allowed me to combine my passion for teaching and working with students. After graduating in May of 2009, I immediately began work on my Master of Arts in Teaching from Simpson College.
In the fall of 2009, I was offered the position of Graduate Assistant within the Simpson College Athletic Training Department. Within this position I served as the Head Athletic Trainer for the Men’s Soccer Team, as well as directed off-season rehabilitation. As I was nearing the end of my time in the MAT program, I was offered a position as Assistant Athletic Trainer and Assistant Professor in the Spring of 2011. It is in my current position where I serve as Head Athletic Trainer for the Men’s Soccer, Men’s Basketball, and Women’s Softball teams. I also teach multiple classes within the Sports Science and Health Education Department.
When I first stepped foot on campus in August of 2005 as a “wide-eyed” undergrad, I would never have imagined that I would find myself teaching in the same classrooms where I was once a student. Simpson has truly shaped who I am, not just as a professional, but also as a person. I have made many positive connections, as well as discovered my true passion for teaching during my time on campus. Because of my experiences, I enjoy bringing that same passion to the classroom as well as to the sidelines as an Athletic Trainer.
