I arrived at Simpson College in 2013, and I am the Director of Simpson Writing Across the Curriculum. Prior to that, I was the Assistant Director of First-year Composition at the University of Georgia. I was responsible for the daily operation of the UGA Writing Center where I worked closely with faculty and first-year through Ph. D. students.

I earned the Bachelor of Arts and Masters of Arts degrees in English from West Georgia State University and my Ph. D. in English from the University of Georgia. My area of specialization is in rhetoric and composition, but I also enjoy research into the constantly evolving field of digital humanities.

I wish I had exotic hobbies like skydiving or collecting tattoos. I have always enjoyed reading, and my first job was working part-time in the city library. It seems appropriate that my current office is also in a library. My favorite pastime, now that I’m living in Iowa, is to sit in front of our picture window and knit or crochet while I watch the snow. That never gets old.

My family and I live in Indianola with our two cats, Funny Bones and Targa.
