Hi there. I am the Marketing Writer and Media Strategist in the Office of Marketing and Public Relations.

I grew up in Granger, Iowa, famous for its two water towers, one that says “Hot” and the other “Cold” (seriously.) From the time I was a sophomore in high school, I wanted to work in newspapers, and began by writing sports for the Woodward Enterprise. I attended the University of Missouri’s (justifiably) famous Journalism School, and eventually landed a job at the Des Moines Register in 1981.

I worked for the Register from 1981 to 1996, then worked about four years at The Sun in Baltimore before returning to the Register, where I worked until 2008. At that point, I made the economically questionable decision to leave the Register and ghost write a book, called “Heading for Home.” It was not, alas, a best-seller.

My freelance career continued until 2011, when Simpson College rescued me, and I do not use that term lightly. This job is a blessing, as are the people I work with in OMPR. We work hard and laugh hard. It’s tremendously rewarding promoting such a great college.
