As Circulation Supervisor at Dunn Library, my job is to train, supervise, guide and motivate workstudy students to perform a variety of circulation functions, including use of our online catalog and other circulation modules. I schedule student workers, process online time sheets and monitor the workstudy budget. I oversee all circulation functions including the computer lab, stack maintenance, shelving, shelfreading, check-in, check-out, notices, holds reserves, etc. I manage bills with the Business Office and provide back-up for processing, withdrawals and maintaining reserve materials. I provide customer assistance to users and make referrals to librarians.
To that end, I do my best to help make working at the library a positive experience for Simpson students. For some, it is their first time working. I want them to achieve success and feel gratification from a job well done. Although fulfilling on so many levels, the toughest part of my job is to watch my students graduate and move on after we have made this extraordinary connection. Thank goodness for Facebook!
My son, Ben, is the manager of the Fridley Theatre in Oskaloosa, so I enjoy the perks of free movies, popcorn and soda. Also I am a contemporary singer and casual writer who loves to read.
