I teach classes in accounting and corporate finance. Upon graduation from college in 1975, I worked for John Deere Company in various finance and accounting positions. After more than 30 years in Corporate America, I decided to accept an early retirement from John Deere and began a second career in education. I worked as an adjunct accounting instructor at the Des Moines Area Community College and as an assistant professor of accounting at Grand View University prior to arriving at Simpson College.
I enjoy teaching both accounting and finance, and I believe that all business students benefit from a strong foundation in both disciplines. I like to bring the boardroom into the classroom, and teach my students skills that are valuable to future employers as well as students. My goals as a teacher are to prepare students for passing the CPA examination, as well as becoming successful members of society and enjoying both their business and personal lives.
I reside in Ankeny, Iowa with my wife. We have two grown children and two grandchildren. In my personal time, I enjoy listening to music and playing guitar. Most of all, though, I enjoy spoiling the grandkids.
