Mission: Aging Resources of Central Iowa directly funds a wide range of community-based services. These efforts ensure the availability of programs and services that assist older citizens in leading independent, meaningful and dignifided lives. Aging Resources of Central Iowa funds the following through private donations, fees, grants, local state and Federal support: nutrition, community service, in-home care, and access to community services. Volunteers are needed in program service areas such as Holiday Meals-on-Wheels, Older Iowans Legislature, Senior Medicare Patrol program, Speakers Beureau of Aging Resources, and occasional office assistance.

Mission: Good Samaritan is a retirement community offering multiple levels of care. Volunteers are needed to read and visit one-on-one with residents, assist with daily activities, serving snacks, contribute to morning and afternoon programs and share their musical talents. “Evening Fun” occurs regularly. Volunteers can stop by for a competitive game of Trivial Pursuit and the like.
Mission: Hospice care is a special type of care for individuals and families living with an end-stage illness. A hospice plan of care seeks to provide quality of life and comfort rather than curative treatment. Hospice of Central Iowa helps individuals live out their remaining days with comfort, dignity and peace of mind. Volunteers are needed to offer companionship, bake, run errands, deliver equipment, and perform light housekeeping.

Mission: The mission of the Indianola Area Senior Center is to promote the physical, emotional and economic well-being of older adults and to promote their participation in all aspects of community life. To achieve this mission, the Indianola Area Senior Center strives to provide older adults with a variety of leadership and leisure time opportunities that correspond to their interests and life-long experiences. Volunteers can stop by for a competitive game of Trivial Pursuit, cards, billiards and the like. Volunteer times are flexible during the week.

Senior Activity Volunteer (Refugee Community Services)
Volunteers will work with elderly in our Refugee Community Service program. Volunteers assist on Tuesday and Thursday mornings between 9 am-12 pm with informal games and activities that support socialization and English skill building.
Mission: Vintage Hills Retirement Community is located in Summercrest Hills Development in Indianola, Iowa. Vintage Hills is designed around the needs and wants of active-minded adults. The community provides a relaxing, comfortable environment with quality amenities to support an active, productive and healthy lifestyle. Vintage Hills offers supportive services for those who need assistance in their daily living routine. We offer 46 assisted living apartments and 20 memory care units. Volunteers are needed to help with crafts, games, small group activities, or companionship. We are also looking for volunteers with any type of talent in music, art, drama, etc to entertain our residents.

Mission: Wesley The Village is a retirement community offering multiple levels of living including 34 townhouses, 74 independent apartments, 14 assisted living apartments, a Health Center which provides care in a lovely homelike setting, and memory-support care. Located near Simpson College on 37 acres, Wesley The Village is sponsored by Wesley Retirement Services, Inc. Volunteers are needed in the Health Center to visit one-on-one with residents, read to them or help with other individual or small group activities. We could also use volunteers in independent and assisted living to play games such as ping pong, horseshoes, washers, and others with residents. Or, if students have a talent they would like to put into a program, we could schedule something like that as well. The program could be a student who plays an instrument, sings, acts, writes and will share their stories or poetry, or any other additional talents. They are usually about 30-45 minutes in length and could be during the day or evening. We are open to many different opportunities.

Westview Care Center in Indianola takes a person directed care approach to long-term care, allowing residents to have choices in their health care, activities and meals. In addition to a 24-hour skilled nursing program, Westview Care Center also provides physical, occupational and speech therapy, respite (short-term) care, and free transportation to and from appointments and activities. As an added service to the Warren County community, Westview has added ABCM Healthy Living Home Care, a non-medical home care, homemaking and companionship service.

Mission: Windsor Manor is an assisted living community. Volunteers are needed on Sundays at 2:15 p.m. to escort residents to church service and sit with them. Volunteers are also needed every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 6:30 p.m. to help with bingo night. Volunteer orientation is provided.
