English

MUCH Students 3

The English department offers courses in literature, literary theory, and expository and creative writing for an immersion into the art of great writing. Our goal for you is to develop sense and sensitivity to language and form ideas with curriculum taught by published, award-winning scholars and creative writers.

You’ll be inspired to have your work published in Sequel, a collection of campus-wide literary writing, The Simpsonian, our college newspaper, or the Zenith campus yearbook. Also, we get inspired each year by hosting guest authors and lecturers who come to campus to share their work. Recent visiting writers include Rhoda Janzen, Kip Robisch and Mary Logue.

English majors have successfully gone on to careers as journalists, editors, publishers, teachers, lawyers and others jobs that require critical thinking and communication skills. Or, graduate school may be a natural next step. Simpson students have pursued studies at Purdue University, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and University of Kansas.
