Online course engagement policy

  • Please log into the class within the first week (days 1-7) of the class.  If you do not engage* in the course in any fashion within the first week, you will be contacted by Simpson staff to confirm that you wish to remain in or drop this course.
  • If you have not engaged, or have engaged only once, during the first week of the course and inform us to drop you from the course, you will receive a 100% refund.
  • If you engage more than once in the first week, or at any time between the first week and second week (days 8-15), and inform us to drop you from the course in that time frame, you will receive a 75% refund.
  • If you engage at any point after the second week, or inform us to drop you from the course after the second week, there is no tuition refund.

*Engagement is defined as reading and responding to material posted by the instructor, completing and/or submitting assignments, taking quizzes, participating in forums, engaging with other students in the courses on group activities and similar activities.

This policy applies to a partial drop of courses. If you need to completely withdraw from all summer courses, you will need to speak directly to the business office at 515-961-1655. If you are receiving financial aid, you will need to speak with the financial aid office at 515-961-1630 regarding any changes to your course schedule.
