Workshops & Events

Faculty Workshops During Iowa Private College Week: August 1-5, 2016. Faculty Development is again offering a series of workshops during Iowa Private College Week. The sessions are offered so they will not conflict with the times faculty meet with prospective students. All faculty – full-time, part-time, and brand new- are invited to attend. Please RSVP to Jodi Eubank at jodi.eubank@simpson.edu

New Faculty Orientation will be on Tuesday, August 23, 2016. This first meeting will provide new full-time and part-time faculty teaching in the day program with an introduction to some of the key people on campus. Please check back for more information. New faculty orientation for the evening program will be held separately.

Faculty Development Day: Three sets of concurrent sessions will be offered on Wednesday, August 24, 2016. FDD has two purposes: provide all faculty with ideas they can incorporate into their classes without having to make major changes to their syllabi, and to provide new faculty with teaching resources to help them get oriented to teaching at Simpson. Please RSVP to the faculty development office if you would like to participate in any of these great sessions!

GIFT Sessions: GIFT stands for Great Ideas For Teaching. Each of these 20 minute sessions provides one concrete idea you can easily implement in your own classes. More information to follow soon.

“First” Wednesday Forum Event: Wednesday January 25, 2017 – 1:00 PM in Kent – Hubbell Hall. Guest Speaker – Dr. Tasha Souza. More information to follow.
