Accounting and Financial Women’s Alliance
Purpose: To support the costs of attending 3rd, 4th or 5th year towards an accounting or finance degree.
Criteria: Scholarship awards are presented to students who have completed their sophomore year of college (or 60 semester hours or the equivalent) by the time of the application deadline and are majoring in accounting or finance. Candidates must have a minimum cumulative college grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent. The Iowa Hospital Association (IHA) is proud to continue the Health Care Careers Scholarship program for the ninth year. The ultimate goal of this program is to fill Iowa health care positions that currently have a notable number of openings by offering significant financial support to students seeking health care education or training. In exchange for that financial support, each award recipient must commit to working one year in an Iowa hospital for each year of scholarship award. Placement opportunities will be identified for each IHA geographic district (a map is included with the application). Scholarship applications will be scored and awards made based on each applicant’s qualifications. All portions of the application form must be submitted by March 30, 2014. Recipients will be announced after May 1.

Each year, local chapters of ABWA provide Stephen Bufton Memorial Scholarships (SBMEF) to female students who will be attending accredited college or universities. The Des Moines Mothers of Multiples (DMMOM) club is a non-profit organization founded in 1959 for the educational and support needs of parents of multiples. The application deadline is April 1, 2014. For the third year in a row, Great Lakes Educational Loan Services, Inc. will again award up to 750 scholarships to new and continuing students who qualify.
