Simpson College, a private, nationally recognized regional college grounded in the liberal arts tradition and affiliated with the United Methodist Church invites nominations and applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Theatre Arts. Simpson College is seeking an experienced teacher/director to teach history/literature and directing courses and direct one production annually in a vibrant and productive theatre department. This tenure-track position will potentially teach theatre history, script analysis, beginning directing, the senior theatre capstone course, and a course in vocation and the performing arts. The position will participate in the general education program of the college.

The position will begin August 20, 2013.  Ph.D. preferred, other terminal degrees considered.  The candidate should have interdisciplinary interest, and experience and/or expressed interest in working at a primarily residential, liberal arts institution. Candidates for the position must demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching and a willingness to engage students in scholarship, research and/or creative work. Faculty members at Simpson College are expected to participate in faculty governance, student advising, new student recruitment and in other ways to demonstrate support for the mission of the institution.
