The Simpson College Division of Student Development seeks applicants for the position of Service Coordinator. This is a half-time, 10-month (August 1 – May 31) position, which reports to the Director of Career Development and Civic Engagement. The Service Coordinator principal duties and responsibilities will include developing service-learning programs; coordinate, track, and report on student service participation, including Americorps and institutional service scholarship programs; supervise student staff. The position also plays an integral role in the planning of large campus events such as 1st year service day Campus Day and MLK Day.
The successful candidate will hold a Bachelors’ degree in a related field; a Master’s degree in higher education or related field is preferred. Other helpful or necessary experiences and skills include: knowledge of civic engagement and service-learning; demonstrable effectiveness in managing like higher education programs; excellent human relations skills which include the ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff; effective oral and written communication skills; basic technology skills including Microsoft Office and social media experience; and a commitment to helping students find their place and life’s calling.
