Wireless Setup Instructions for Windows XP

Step 1

Go to Start, click on Run… and type in ncpa.cpl like screen shots above and click OK.
Note: There is a period between the a and the c.

Step 2

Right click on the icon which says “Wireless Network Connection” and in a drop down menu click on Properties.

Step 3

Select the Wireless Networks tab and click the Add… button.

Step 4

On the Association tab, fill in Network name (SSID): with scstudent, change Network Authentication to WPA, and change Data encryption to TKIP. Click the Authentication tab and change EAP type to Protected EAP (PEAP). Click the properties button.

Step 5

Scroll down in the Trusted Root Certification Authorities area and select GlobalSign Root CA. Make sure that Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2) is selected. Click on the Configure… button and uncheck the box next to Automatically use my Windows logon name and password…. Click on OK on the Protected EAP Properties box. Click on OK on the Wireless Network Properties box. Finally click on OK on the Wireless Network Connection Properties box.

Step 6

Click inside the information bubble to bring up the screen shot below.

Enter your Simpson username and password and SC for the logon domain.  Click OK.

You have successfully configured your laptop for the scstudent wireless network.
