Theatre Simpson on Tour

The goal of this class was to introduce students to the particulars of children’s theatre performances designed to entertain, encourage self-expression and educate.  Students in the class will rehearse, design, build and tour (locally) a recognized children’s play to be presented in conjunction with the Simpson College Arts Festival taking place in May 2014.

May Term for 2015:

Agents of Change-

Working as a collaborative team, students in this course will research, write, and produce a performance that focuses on ending sexual harassment and assault. The goal is to create a performance/presentation to be used as part of the orientation for incoming students in the fall of 2015. The first week of the course will focus on research and idea development. This will include meeting with various campus groups including Student Development, Counseling, S.A.R.A, and PRIDE. The first week potential material for performance will be developed through different theatre exercises and games. In the second week the students will begin to fine-tune the script and start staging the performance. In the third week, students will present the performance for various stakeholders on campus.
