Resources for Students

Student Learning Objectives for Academic Advising.  This page describes what you should learn from advising and how you can demonstrate that learning.

Student Academic Advising Planner.  Although not all faculty advisors ask their advisees to use this academic advising planner, all students can benefit from using it.

Advising Contract.  Not all faculty advisors use this advising contract. Some advisors may have their own contracts and others do not use a contract at all.

Registrar’s Office.  The Registrar’s website is the place to find information about the college catalog, important dates for registration and graduation applications, forms, and more.

First Course in the Major. This table lists the first course in each of the majors offered at Simpson. In addition, almost all the majors have created plans of study that indicate which courses students should take each semester. These plans are very useful for initial planning in a major, but be sure to talk to an advisor in that department to determine how to apply those general recommendations to your own situation.

Engaged Citizenship Curriculum. The general education curriculum consists of Simpson Colloquium, 7 Areas of Engagement, 7 Embedded Skills, and a capstone in the major.

The Center for Academic Resources provides academic support for all students including building academic skills, research consultations with a librarian, student accessibility, tutoring, and writing consultations.

Student Support Services is designed to help students become successful in college. To be eligible to participate in SSS, students must be a first generation college student, meet federal income standards (e.g., qualify for a Pell Grant), and/or have a documented learning or physical disability.

Backup Advising Support. If you have a question about an advising issue and cannot reach your academic advisor, visit the Center for Academic Resources.
