Keyboard Studies

Music at Simpson offers opportunities for study and performance in organ and piano for students, including private lessons, accompanying, and various recital opportunities.

All music majors are required to take 1-on-1, private piano lessons with one of our keyboard instructors, and must pass Piano Proficiency to earn a degree in music.  Non-music majors are also welcome to take piano or organ lessons.

Each one of our 19 practice rooms includes a well-tuned, fine piano, for student practice.  Ten of the eighteen practice rooms are equipped with a grand piano. Lekberg Hall houses a pair of 6-foot grand pianos for performance. The College's Great Hall houses a Bösendorfer Grand Imperial piano, and the Smith Chapel sanctuary houses a 9-foot Knabe concert grand.
