Music at Simpson offers opportunities for study and performance in organ and piano for students, including private lessons, accompanying, and various recital opportunities.
All music majors are required to take 1-on-1, private piano lessons with one of our keyboard instructors, and must pass Piano Proficiency to earn a degree in music. Non-music majors are also welcome to take piano or organ lessons.
Each one of our 18 practice rooms includes a well-tuned, fine piano, for student practice. Ten of the eighteen practice rooms are equipped with a grand piano. Lekberg Hall houses a pair of 6-foot grand pianos for performance. The College's Great Hall houses a Bösendorfer Grand Imperial piano, and the Smith Chapel sanctuary houses a 9-foot Knabe concert grand.
