The original Buxton asphalt courts, named for William Buxton III, located by Hillman Hall and were completed in 1952. The current six courts are named after the former Simpson Trustee Richard W. Buxton. They are lined with pine trees on the north and were resurfaced in 2002. The courts are in a popular recreational area – they overlook the baseball and softball fields and a regulation basketball court is nearby.
