To see a WebBridge link from within PubMed, you need to have a My NCBI account (free) and configure it to use WebBridge. Once you’ve done this, you’ll see WebBridge links whenever you’re logged in to your My NCBI account.
If you prefer not to create and use your own account, you can still set the WebBridge link by searching PubMed using http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?otool=iascdlli.
(Clicking on the images makes them larger.)
To enable WebBridge in PubMed:
Go to PubMed at http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/.
Log in to My NCBI using your existing My NCBI username and password, or register for an account and then log in.
After logging in, click on My NCBI
Go to NCBI Site Preferences.
Click the link to Outside Tool in left hand column. Click the “S” button in the alphabetical list, select “Simpson College – Dunn Library,” and click the Save button.
After doing the above, as long as you’re logged in to My NCBI, you will see a WebBridge button in the upper right hand corner when viewing a PubMed record. Note that the button does not appear on search results screens.
Note: Setting the Outside Tool preference for Dunn Library in your NCBI account does not authenticate you as a Simpson user, so access to some databases will still require authentication with your last name and library barcode.
