Middle School Honor Band

CANCELED:  The 2023-24 Middle School Honor Band has been cancelled due to forecast extreme wind chills.  We are sorry to not be able to have our Festival this year.

Simpson College has hosted an honor band for 7th and 8th grade students since 1990. This festival allows students from many schools to come together and work with exciting guest conductors.  Typically over fifty schools participate. The event occurs in January and students perform in the Pote Theatre in the Blank Performing Arts Center.

Clinicians for the 2023-24 honor band are Donald Fisher, Associate Director of Bands here at Simpson College, and Dr. Carl Rowles, Director of Bands at Cedar Rapids Jefferson.

Here is the tentative schedule for the 2023-24 Band:

8:45 a.m.       Registration begins in the lobby of the Amy Robertson Music Center

                      Lunch Tickets available

                      Lekberg Hall will be available as a holding area for early arrivals

9:30               Rehearsals begin

Gold Band will be in Pote (BPAC building)

Red Band will be in HARRIS HALL (Band Room)

12:15 p.m.     Student Lunch in Pfeiffer Dining Hall

                      Director Lunch in Matthew Simpson Room

1:30               Rehearsal resumes

Red Band will be in Pote (BPAC building)

Gold Band will be in HARRIS HALL (Band Room)

4:30               Break for Dinner

6:20               Participants are to be in their assigned seats for the concert
