Middle School Honor Band

*******UPDATE*******

Due to most districts announcing a late start, the Simpson Middle School Honor Band is starting later in the day. Registration will start at 10:00 and rehearsals start at 11:00.  The rest of the day’s schedule will remain the same.

Simpson College has hosted an honor band for 7th and 8th grade students for more than twenty-five years. This festival allows students from many schools to come together and work with exciting guest conductors.  Typically over fifty schools participate. The event occurs in January and students perform in the newly renovated Pote Theatre in the Blank Performing Arts Center.

This year’s festival will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2018.  Rehearsals will begin at 9:30 AM, and the evening concert will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Blank Performing Arts Center, located on the Simpson College campus.  The concert is free and open to the public.

The guest conductors for this year’s festival are Mr. Jason Spooner and Mr. Chris Crandell.

As usual there will be two bands for the festival.   It is our intention to have these two bands display equal ability, based upon the comments given by directors on the nomination forms.  Be assured, there will not be a ‘strong’ band and a ‘weak’ band, at least not by intention!
