Experience the Simpson Music Culture!

The Simpson College Department of Music offers several festivals during the school year and two summer music camps for school-age students.  Each festival and camp offers a different experience to the young musician. Find more information on our festivals, camps, and Scholarship Days below!


Simpson College Chamber Music Camp New this year! June 5-7, 2017. The Simpson College Chamber Music Camp is focused on bringing world-class level expertise and opportunity to high-school through college-level saxophonists. The three-day intensive camp will feature the Oasis Quartet, and will cover a variety of topics germane to saxophonists.

Singing Actor Camp: The New Orpheus Experience takes place July 16-22, 2017. We’re changing things up to offer vocalists and pianists a one-of-a-kind experience! Vocalists will come to camp with pre-assigned roles in opera, operetta, or musical theater scenes, and be immersed in personal coaching, dynamic class content, private lessons and more, including an optional one day add-on to perform with a professional choir and orchestra. Two extraordinary pianists interested in collaborative performance will be offered full scholarships to attend camp, and will also have tailored content, private lessons, and solo and collaborative performance experience.

FESTIVALS 2016-2017

12th Annual Simpson Fall Honor Choir  – Tuesday, October 11, 2016:  The Simpson College Honor Choir is designed as a non-competitive environment where exceptional students from high school programs have the opportunity to spend a day rehearsing and performing high quality choral music. 4th Annual Voice Symposium – Friday, November 11, 2016: Engaging and interactive, this clinic for high school singers includes seminars, workshops, and career development opportunities designed to foster growth in singing, performing, and answer questions about the life of a musician beyond high school.

Simpson College Music Scholarship Day – Saturday, January 28, 2017  Meet the music faculty, audition for a music scholarship, attend an informational Admissions Q&A Session, take a tour of campus, and enjoy lunch with the music faculty.

Simpson College Opera Event & Scholarship Auditions -Sunday, February 12, 2017

Simpson College is very well known across the country for our excellent opera program.  If you’re interested in opera and learning more about Simpson’s opera program, and are a high school senior or transfer student, this event is a great way to experience it first-hand!

This day-long event involves scholarship auditions in the morning, a Simpson Opera Brunch to learn more about our music program and meet the opera faculty, and  lastly, attend the final performance of the spring opera presented by Simpson College Opera.

Friday & Saturday, February 17-18, 2017:  Designed especially for you to experience the eventful life of a Simpson Music Student!  Beginning Friday morning at 8:30 a.m., attend music classes and rehearsals, meet our music faculty and current music students, hear students and faculty in concert, and have a meal at one of our dining locations.  Then on Saturday, audition for a music scholarship and tour the campus.
