2018 Simpson Orientation, Advising, & Registration (SOAR) Days:
April 14, June 14, June 15, June 18
(4 – One Day Sessions)
Simpson Orientation, Advising, & Registration (SOAR) is a complete introduction for new first-year students to Simpson College. New students will meet their faculty advisors, choose their first semester classes, receive all contact information and access to Simpson College’s online portal system, get their Student ID photo taken, and start building both personal and academic relationships. Throughout this process, students will have the guidance of a current student who will serve as their orientation leader both in the summer and again in the fall when they begin their college journeys at Simpson.
A Simpson Colloquium (SC) class is the first class that students will register for before even arriving at SOAR. A list of “Simpson Colloquium” courses can be found here, and students will have the opportunity to indicate their preferences.
New students choose their SC course and indicate their availability for SOAR through an online sign-up form found on their Welcome portal. Instructions for logging into the Welcome portal are mailed to new students once they have paid their deposits.
Full schedules will be posted shortly. There is a separate schedule for students and for guests. Guests and students will meet at check-out at the end of the day.
If you have any questions about SOAR, please email Anna Peña, Interim Director of New Student Programs, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
