Look for Simpson’s Tree at Festival of Trees & Lights

Simpson is sponsoring a tree at the five-day-long event, which begins Wednesday, Nov. 26 and ends on Sunday, Nov. 30. The College’s Advancement department led the decoration project. The event is the main fundraiser for Blank Children’s Hospital. It features decorated trees, entertainment, children’s activities, food, shopping and more. Admission is $5. More…

“Carousel”: A Successful Collaboration

“It seems a piece like Carousel is an ideal vehicle for Simpson’s music and theatre departments to work together,” said Bernard McDonald, director of opera at Simpson. “We have two very strong, distinctive programs and a piece like this requires a large company of trained musicians, singers and non-singers who can act, and dancers as well. In that respect, it’s a cross-disciplinary enterprise.” More…

Simpson Chosen to Host Women in Philosophy Conference

“Hosting Midwest SWIP is a real honor for Simpson,” said Allison Wolf, associate professor of philosophy at Simpson and a member of the organization for more than 15 years. “This is a meeting of feminist scholars from across the United States and and even parts of Canada, which usually takes place at major universities – such as Michigan State, University of Minnesota, University of Wisconsin and SUNY Buffalo — so Simpson is in great company.” More…
