The independent and critical thinking concepts that he instilled in me served me well in law school and in life. I am forever in his debt for his commitment to me as a student. As my college advisor, he is hands down the BEST “teacher” at creating a bridge to a developing 18-19 year’s mind. More then that, he instilled in me, something that no other did before, which is a life long deep desire to “seek the truth” (historical or other), “to become more then what I am”, and “to be honest”. He was much more then an teacher, but LOVED the Simpson community, and the “kids” that went there and were involved with him, are better for it. I feel, a sense of “debt” to Dr Walt, and Simpson College, that I can not ever fully repay, but to simply remember what he taught, and some small way, in my day-to-day life with my co-workers, my children, my friends, etc… can try to pass on what he embodied.
