The problem: The Christmas holiday feels too commercialized, and there’s too much to do, and decorating the tree begins to feel like work, not pleasure.
Simpson College has the solution.
“Lessons and Carols,” a combination of beautiful music with Scripture readings, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 9 in Smith Chapel, and again at 2 p.m. on Dec. 10.
This year, as part of the 50th anniversary of Smith Chapel, the Chaplain’s office at Simpson will host a holiday meal before the performance. The dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Matthew Simpson Room, on the second floor of College Hall.
Tickets for the dinner are $40 per person. All proceeds will be used to support the Simpson Youth Academy. To buy tickets, call Smith Chapel at 515-961-1610.
Admission is free to the performances, and the public is invited, but Simpson requests that people reserve tickets in advance at www.smith-chapel.ticketleap.com/lessons2017/
Doors open 45 minutes early to each performance, and seats are available to people with tickets on a first-come, first-served basis.
If you need to get into the Christmas spirit, here’s your invitation.
