The Simpson Solution for Working Adults
Beginning this fall, students in Simpson’s Continuing & Graduate Programs can complete one of four academic programs from the comfort of their own home.
Introducing Simpson Online, a more convenient way to attend college.
Simpson has offered online courses since 2008, but this is the first time full academic programs will be available.
New online programs include:
- Bachelor of Arts in Management
- Bachelor of Arts in Management Information System
- Master of Arts in Criminal Justice
- Graduate Certificate in Justice Leadership (which could be the first step toward a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice)
“The popularity of the programs and the nature of the disciplines lent themselves well to the online environment,” said Amy Gieseke, dean of Continuing, Graduate & Online Programs.
“We’re hoping, through Simpson Online, to attract students who are not well served by our current evening offerings,” Gieseke said. “These programs will allow Simpson to reach further into the state of Iowa. Our current C&G students have been asking for more online options, as have our prospective students, so we are thrilled to be able to respond to that demand.”
She expects Simpson Online to offer more programs in the future.
Simpson Online provides a great opportunity for adult learners to obtain a Simpson degree when they lack the ability to pursue a degree in a more traditional campus setting. All they need is a computer.
Gieseke said Simpson’s professors are eager to get started, even though some have never taught an online program before. Faculty and staff from across campus have worked diligently to ensure that students and faculty have the same high quality teaching and learning experience that they receive in the classroom. “They’re nervous, but they are also excited about the potential for reaching a new audience,” she said.
