The performance will be broadcast at noon July 8 and again at 7 p.m. July 9 as part of Iowa Public Radio’s Performance Iowa series, which showcases the state’s best performers as well as visiting musicians.
As part of the broadcast, Moore discusses how he got started in music and his experience at Simpson, home to one of the best undergraduate opera programs in the country.
Moore will play Onegin in the opera “Eugene Onegin,” which will be performed beginning June 30 as part of the Des Moines Metro Opera’s 40th anniversary season.
In April, Moore sang and McDonald accompanied him on piano during a guest artist recital at Simpson. The recital opens with Don Giovanni’s seductive serenade, “Deh vieni all finestra,” and includes works by Schubert, Mahler and Poulenc. The recital closes with two selections from Tchaikovsky.
