Kevin Hughes ’13 Honored for Work at Mid-Atlantic Symposium

The Summer of Success for Simpson College alumni just keeps getting better.

Kevin Hughes ’13 was recently honored at the Second Annual Mid-Atlantic symposium at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.

Hughes, who earned a bachelor’s degree from Simpson, received an award for his poster, “Identification of an interplay between kinetochore attachment and spindle organization.”

Hughes currently works in the laboratory of an associate professor of biological sciences in the College of Science at Virginia Tech University. In August, he will begin studying for a Ph.D. in molecular, cellular, developmental biology and genetics at Yale University.

At Simpson, Hughes also is remembered as a football player and ATO House Assistant.
