Simpson College produces leaders

The Des Moines Register provided another example on July 28 by profiling Staci Borchert Scheurenbrand ‘07, the executive director of the National Balloon Classic.

Scheurenbrand graduated from Simpson with a degree in marketing communications. It seems appropriate that a graduate of both Indianola AND and Simpson leads the Classic, given that the event began about 50 years ago with balloons taking off from campus.

“In those days, balloons were literally on top of each other, launching and flying all over the town,” she told the Register. “It was an absolutely beautiful sight.”

Simpson College is a leadership mecca for central Iowa and the entire Midwest. Many of our graduates have assumedpositions of responsibility in a variety of careers.

It’s no secret why. Simpson’s Engaged Citizenship Curriculum provides students with the skills employers and graduate schools are looking for, including leadership skills. Students become leaders on campus through student government and dozens of other clubs and organizations.
