Simpson Debate Team Scores Another Victory This Weekend

The football team scores in the closing seconds to move into a first-place tie in the Iowa Conference.

The men’s soccer team beats Dubuque to advance to the Iowa Conference semifinals.

The debate team wins the parliamentary debate portion of the O’Donnell tournament in Marietta, Ohio.

Ho-hum. Just another fantastic week at Simpson College.

For the Simpson debate team, success is becoming a weekly tradition.

At the Ohio event, the team of Ethan Fredrick and Jacy Gomez finished with a perfect 7-0 record in Parliamentary Debate. They defeated Grove City College in the championship round, 3-0.

Fredrick was named top speaker among all the tournament’s debaters.

The Parliamentary Debate victory helped propel Simpson to second place in overall team points. Eight schools competed in the event.

And there’s more good news: Simpson has qualified four teams – the most in school history – for the CPF Nationals in February.

Congratulations to the following teams:

Paul Safford and Jacob McLain
Ethan Fredrick and Tegan Jarchow
Emma Kain and Jacy Gomez
Kiley Murray and Michelle Beving
