Model United Nations

“My best experience [in International Relations] was participating in Model UN … the preparations, the conference, and reflecting on the experience afterwards created knowledge and memories I will never forget.” — from Aumni Survey

Every year, Simpson College students participate in the Midwest Model United Nations (or MMUN). Model U.N. is a course and exciting role-playing simulation where students learn about and work together on pressing international issues. Simpson students play the role of a nation’s delegation to the United Nations during a trip to the Model U.N. conference in St. Louis each spring, where hundreds of students experience the complexity of international relations and test their knowledge of global politics. In 2012, two Simpson students brought back the award for Outstanding Delegation in the Economic and Social Council plenary session.  Model U.N. is advised by Dr. Eduardo Magalhaes.
