Internships and hands-on learning are important experiences for psychology majors at Simpson College. Simpson provides quality research labs specifically for the psychology department specially equipped with technology that measures human psychological responses such as changes in brain waves, muscle tension and temperature.

Students taking Simpson's advanced research classes often present during the Midwestern Psychological Association's (MPA) annual conference. In the past ten years, 100 percent of Simpson psychology students who submitted proposals to the undergraduate portion of the MPA conference were selected to present.

Simpson has a partnership with the Great Ape Trust of Iowa, a world-class research facility dedicated to the study and conservation of great apes. Through this partnership, psychology students are given the opportunity to study human's closest relatives through research projects and work placements.

Students desiring to do research are not assigned to help someone else – they determine what they care about and lead the research from beginning to end. We are here to help them in their quest.
