Religious Life Community

The Simpson College Religious Life Community (RLC) is just that, a community. We are a completely student lead group that strives to meet the spiritual needs of every student on campus. This year, as a community, we will wrestle with the question from Micah 6:8, “…what does the Lord require of you?” We will strive to answer this question through the various branches of RLC, each led by a student chapel intern. In worship we will provide opportunities to connect to God through song, prayer, and God’s Word. In Welcome and Celebration RLC will create means of fellowship, fun, and outreach to campus and the community around us. In both our Service portion and Justice and Mission portions of RLC, we will have chances to learn about our place in God’s creation by examining our gifts and callings God has blessed us with through weekly service trips to sites in and around the Indianola community. There are also alternative Fall and Spring Break trips stretching across the United States and also internationally to address realities facing our world today. Through our Interfaith and Catholic Student Organization, we have an environment that will let all students feel comfortable in their own religious expressions. We also promote intentional conversations to bridge the gaps of understanding between the world’s vast religious traditions. In our Spiritual Formation focus, there are countless Bible studies and discussion groups that challenge students to learn more about themselves and their faith. All these aspects of RLC come together for a community where anyone can come to grow in the never-ending journey of faith and spirituality to discover what God is calling us to do in our lives. As this journey is not meant to be done alone, we invite all to join us in this loving and welcoming community. If you have questions or concerns on how to get involved in all RLC has to offer please let me know face to face on campus, through email, or on Facebook,

Austin Roy, RLC President

About Me:

I am a senior Physics major, Mathematics and Secondary Education minor from LeMars, Iowa, preparing to become a high school and middle school science and physics teacher. I am an active person who loves nothing more than enjoying God’s creation by spending time outdoors with family and friends, as well as striving to learn as much as I can about the people and world around me. In my three years at Simpson College, RLC has largely shaped my experience. Because of this I would love nothing more than to give chances for campus to experience all RLC has to offer. If you see me in Smith Chapel, Dirlam Lounge, Carver, Kent, or anywhere else on campus, please do not hesitate to stop and talk to me about anything, RLC related or not.
