Worship

QuenchChristmas

Our contemporary non-denominational worship experience. Come worship with us as we explore what it means to live out Christian faith as students.

John 4:13-14–Jesus said to her, ‘Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, 14but those who drink of the water that I will give them will never be thirsty. The water that I will give will become in them a spring of water gushing up to eternal life.’

Wednesdays, 9:00 PM, Smith Chapel Praise Band

The Praise Band is comprised of Simpson Students who provide music for campus worship on Wednesday nights.  It welcomes vocal and instrumental musicians who feel called to serve God through musical praise.

Practice: TBA, Smith Chapel

Calm Cafe

Our laid back worship experience that allows students to explore Praise Bandfaith in a spiritual, but not explicitly religious way. Students are welcome to express their opinions and experiences in mediums that suit them, including music, dance, poetry, or speaking.

Communion

Communion is offered at Quench monthly. In addition, a local Catholic priest offers the sacrament at Mass each week. Communion can also be offered at other times to anyone who would like to receive the sacrament.

About Me

Hey, all! My name is Brian Williams and I’m the RLC intern of Worship this year. I am a junior Religion major. When I’m not feverishly thinking of new ideas for worship, you might find me wasting time at a piano, hanging out in Mary Berry, or watching MLB.
My job is to facilitate our already existing worship opportunities on campus, Quench and Calm Cafe, always looking for new ways to help students engage and discover more about themselves and their spirituality. My understanding of worship is open-ended, and intentionally so. I know that as a college campus we come from all sorts of contexts and traditions, so worship can manifest itself in different ways. Whether it is attending Quench, singing or playing in the praise band, lounging in Dirlam during Calm Cafe, attending Catholic Mass, doing service, prayer/mediation, or simply living a life reverent of something higher, my goal is to assist you in meeting those worship needs on campus. I have a passion for ecumenism, as well as interfaith, so don’t be afraid to approach me with an idea, suggestion, or criticism.
You may contact me at brian.williams@my.simpson.edu, or come find me in the RLC office! It’s going to be a grrrrrrrrrreat year!
