Sequel

Sequel is Simpson College's literary and visual arts magazine. The annual publication serves as a forum for students, faculty and staff to share their literary and artistic talents. Students can earn academic credit and gain valuable professional development experience by joining the magazine's editorial staff.


Update, February 23, 2022:
The production of this year's issue of Sequel is underway! Our editors will be accepting work from any full- or part-time students enrolled in a Simpson College Undergraduate or Graduate program from February 23rd to March 21st. We are looking for works of fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, and visual art. 

All work should be sent to sequel@mysimpson.onmicrosoft.com before noon on March 21st. Our guidelines are below.


Sequel 2021-2022 Work Guidelines

Multiple submissions are welcome but please limit to sending one work per genre.

Fiction and Non-Fiction: No gratuitous violence/ sexual content, provide content notes for more explicit work. Email as a Word Document and a PDF file, double-spaced and in 12pt Times New Roman font. The maximum length for works in these categories is 2 pages.

Poetry: No gratuitous violence or sexual content, provide content notes for more explicit work. Email as a Word Document and a PDF file in 12pt font. Please keep works to no more than 3 pages, either one poem per page or one long-form poem. Should be formatted as you would like them to appear in print (line breaks, stanzas, etc)

Visual Art: Black-and-white visual art pieces that are either created digitally or scanned to be digital files. Send as a maximum of 5x8in file, either png or jpeg.

Visual Text pieces, such as graphic fiction/nonfiction, or other forms of visual-text combination: Works under this category should be limited to 1 page, and any art in black and white. Sent as a Word Document and PDF file in 12pt font.
