Sociology and Criminal Justice
As you dive into sociology, criminal justice or social work as a major or minor at Simpson you’ll find you’ve landed on some of the best programs a Midwest college has to offer. Our Social Sciences department will prepare you for a career path in law enforcement, probation and parole, social work or graduate or law school.
With a degree in Sociology you’ll study society and social interaction; the nature and workings of humans in groups of life. Our faculty members work with you to be successful in a career as a teacher, work in the public or private sector or preparation for graduate school.
Criminal Justice majors learn to think in terms of theoretical analysis of real situations along with learning about the inner-workings of the criminal justice system. Our majors have landed career enhancing internships at the Iowa Department of Public Safety and Attorney General’s office.
Simpson students have presented award-winning papers and research projects during the Iowa Sociological Association annual meeting and scored in the 25th percentile in the Educational Testing Service criminal justice among other colleges and universities.
