Student Support Services
Student Support Services Program
Student Support Services (SSS) is designed to help students become successful in college. We want students to achieve the goals they set for themselves, so SSS offers academic, social and cultural opportunities at no cost.
Why Join?
SSS is a popular option among Simpson students and it is easy to see why. We offer:
- Grant Aid for up to $500 to cover the cost of textbooks each semester (income eligibility requirements apply)
- One-on-one regular advising with our staff
- CampusConnect Week (A FREE summer experience for first year students)
- Priority class registration (all SSS students get to register first, regardless of their year)
- Workshops on a variety of topics, including financial literacy, choosing a major and "going green"
- FUN social and cultural activities
- Career and vocational planning
- Scholarship money to help pay for the cost of career or grad school exploration
- Supplemental Instruction (SI)
- Peer Mentoring
- Free academic supplies and check-out items (digital camera, laptop, graphing calculators, digital voice recorders, portable DVD player...and much, much more)
Am I Eligible?
Certain eligibility requirements exist. All students in the SSS program must meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Be a first generation college student (neither mother or father has a college degree)
- Meet federal low income standards (do you qualify for a Pell Grant?)
- Have a documented learning, physical or other disability
