PERICLES (opening March 20—rehearsals beginning Dec. 4)

What should you prepare?

We recommend that you memorize and stage two contrasting monologues—one must be from Shakespeare’s plays. Please do not pick any sonnets. Total time limit of 2 minutes.

For those who are new to the process we will have monologues available for cold readings.

(This option is not recommended for theatre majors, minors or scholarship recipients.)

When are auditions?

MONDAY, DECEMBER 1 between 6:00-9:00 p.m.

Callbacks are December 2 time TBA.

What should you wear?

Think of the audition as an interview and dress appropriately. You do want to make sure you are wearing something you are comfortable in which allows you to move during the audition.

Where will you audition?

The auditions will take place in BPAC 202 of Blank Performing Arts Center. There will be a chair available for you to use if you need it. Arrive at least fifteen minutes before your audition time to check in with the stage manager in the upper lobby of BPAC. The stage manager will tell you when it is your turn to audition

What will happen at the audition?

You will be asked to complete an audition form with your contact information and potential scheduling conflicts. When you come in for your audition, you will need to introduce yourself and your monologues. After you complete your audition, the director may have some questions for you.

What happens next?

The callback list will be posted Tuesday, December 2 before Noon. This will be on the bulletin board in the hallway behind the office and also online. Callbacks are December 2, time TBA.

Please note

Theatre Simpson is a collaborative community of artists dedicated to the total process of theatre-making. As such, all back-stage and on-stage participants in Pericles are required to attend our Work Call on February 28.

We will hold our first rehearsals on the evening of Thursday, December 4, and late afternoon of Friday, December 5. We will resume after Holiday Break on Monday, January 12th. There will be no formal rehearsals from January 18 to January 24, as many students and faculty will be attending the Kennedy Center American Theatre Festival conference in Minneapolis. Also, please be aware that as the show is slated for the weekend following Spring Break, we ask you to be back on-campus by the morning of March 15, the last Sunday of Spring Break. We will begin technical rehearsals at approximately 9 am. Pericles will perform on the evenings of Friday, March 20 and Saturday, March 21, and the afternoons of Sunday, March 22, and Monday, March 23 during the annual High School Theatre Festival. Strike will be on Monday, March 23.
