Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival

Theatre Simpson participates in the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival, a national celebration of college and university theatre sponsored by the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. Each year we enter our productions in KCACTF and they are seen and responded to by select faculty from other institutions.

Through KCACTF, students participate regularly in many programs including the Irene Ryan Scholarship Auditions, the Barbizon Awards for Theatrical Excellence, the Alcone Makeup Design Award, Professional Theatre and Internship Auditions, the Stage Directors and Choreographers Directing Scene Auditions, Stagecrew Showdown, Stage and Theatre Management events, Playwriting submissions, new-play concert readings, and workshops with professionals in all areas of the field. Simpson College is a part of Region V, the “Great Plains” region, which includes Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota. More information about Region V is available at www.kcactf5.org . Information about the national KCACTF program is atwww.kennedy-center.org/education/actf .
