Theatre Simpson 2013/14 Production Season
Make plans to join us at Theatre Simpson for our 2013-14 production season.
We will start off the season with Lysistrata Jones by Doug Carter Beane and Lewis Flinn.
Performance Dates: October 24-26 at 7:30 pm and October 27 at 1:00 pm.
“Lyssie J. and her girl-power posse won’t “give it up” to their basketball playing
boyfriends until they win a game—and ultimately find that abstinence truly does make the heart grow fonder! With its infectious original score and a hysterical book from three-time Tony® nominated playwright Douglas Carter Beane (The Little Dog Laughed, Sister Act), and composer and lyricist Lewis Flinn (The Divine Sister) Lysistrata Jones will add fun to any theatre season!”
The second show is The Women of Lockerbie by Deborah Brevoort.
Performance Dates: November 22-23 at 7:30 pm and November 24 at 1:00 pm.
In conjunction with the 17th Annual High School Theatre Festival, November 25th.
“A mother from New Jersey roams the hills of Lockerbie Scotland, looking for her son’s remains which were lost in the crash of Pan Am 103. She meets the Women of Lockerbie, who are fighting the US Government to obtain the clothing of the victims found in the plane’s wreckage. The women, determined to convert an act of hatred into an act of love, want to wash the clothes of the dead and return them to the victim’s families. The Women of Lockerbie is loosely inspired by a true story, although the characters and situations in the play are purely fictional. Written in the structure of a Greek tragedy, it is a poetic drama about the triumph of love over hate.”
In the spring we will be performing Night of the Soul by David Farr.
Performance Dates: February 13-18 at 7:30 pm.
“The night before his father’s funeral a man checks into a hotel on the southern coast of England. The hotel is home to the ghost of a young woman from the 14th century who wanders the corridors in silence; unseen, unheard, and longing for human contact. What follows is a story about two souls who must rely on each to find forgiveness and redemption.”
We will close the season with our Festival of Short Plays 2014: EcoDrama.
Performance Dates: April 11-12 at 7:30 pm and April 13 at 1:00 pm.
