French

The French program at Simpson is anything but ordinary!

Imagine yourself making short videos about Simpson College to share with our partner class in France… discovering what life was like in France during World War II… comparing French films and their American remakes… studying the palaces and princesses that changed French history… flipping crêpes with the French Club… trying out your new vocabulary with our teaching assistant from France at the weekly conversation table… participating in May Term travel courses to Paris or Rwanda… studying for a semester in France or Tahiti… reflecting on your intercultural learning while creating a study abroad portfolio… and most of all developing valuable skills that will prepare you for success in any career.

The French advantage

Did you know that...

  • 28 countries on 5 continents have French as an official language? (Only English can boast more.)
  • French is the most studied language in the world after English?
  • French is the second most commonly used lingua franca after English?

If you know both French and English, you have an important and marketable skill set, no matter what career path you choose!
