Sarah Davitt

Academic Coach

Biography

After completing my MAT from Simpson, I began teaching science for Des Moines Public Schools at Central Academy.  I taught a range of courses including 8th Grade Bio/Chem/Phys, Accelerated Biology, Accelerated Chemistry, AP Biology, and IB Biology.  Although I have a love for science, biology and chemistry are (by far!) my favorite subjects. After teaching for 6 years, I decided to give my time and passion for helping students back to Simpson as an Academic Coach in 2017.

I live south of Indianola on a small acreage with my husband (Ben), 3 children (Joe, Makena, and Gabe), and our German shepherd (Maggie).  I enjoy reading, spending time with my family, snuggling with my kids, and being outside. My favorite aspect about being an Academic Coach is watching a student overcome impediments to their success, especially after they didn’t think it was a possibility.
