Adjunct Instructors in Mathematics

The Mathematics Department at Simpson College, Indianola, IA, is seeking an adjunct instructor for spring, 2019 to teach Math 105 (see course description below).

Spring 2019: We are seeing a qualified instructor to teach one section of a quantitative reasoning course (Math 105). The course is scheduled for three 1.0-hour lecture per week on MWF at 9:10-10:10am on the main campus in Indianola, IA. Enrollment in the course is limited to 36 student. The instructor will also supervise two undergraduate students who will lead supplemental instruction sessions for the students of the course.  The successful candidate would be expected to engage the students in interactive lectures and class activities. Textbook: Using and Understanding Mathematics by Bennett-Briggs.  Topics in the course include logic and problem solving, money management, elementary statistics, linear and exponential modeling.

Candidates should have a master’s in mathematics or related field and some teaching experience in high school or college.
