ASSISTANT OR ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF SPANISH. Simpson College, a private, nationally recognized regional college grounded in the liberal arts tradition and affiliated with the United Methodist Church invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position in Spanish beginning August 2019. Ph.D. in hand by August 2019, specialization in Intercultural Communication and Second Language Acquisition preferred. Native or near-native proficiency required in Spanish and English with knowledge of a third language a plus. Teaching load: 6 courses per year at all levels of the Spanish curriculum. We seek a collaborative colleague who is committed to outstanding teaching in a creative, culture-focused program. Expertise in content-based instruction, curriculum design, online language learning, translation studies or heritage speaker programs a plus. Enthusiasm for mentoring undergraduate research and leading study abroad opportunities valued. Willingness to contribute to the college’s recruitment efforts, diversity initiatives, first-year seminar program, general education program, and faculty governance expected. Experience teaching or studying at a primarily residential, liberal arts institution preferred.
