Simpson College seeks candidates for a Campus Compact AmeriCorps funded position that will assist in the implementation of a civic action plan full time over the course of the program year.
This action plan identifies goals and actions to better serve the surrounding community and increase student volunteer participation and engagement.
The College’s approach to partnering with the community includes promoting community partnerships, preparing students for lives of engaged citizenship, strengthening communities, challenging inequalities, and setting high expectations for achieving goals.
This position will be responsible for:
- Conducting input sessions about the Civic Action Plan with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Implement strategic recommendations outlined in Civic Action Plan.
- Develop an implementation plan inclusive of aspirations outlined in Civic Action Plan.
- Collaborate with a team of staff, faculty and students for implementation of Civic Action Plan.
- Assess effectiveness of strategies put in place.
Hours served will primarily be in an office setting on campus and may include off-campus meetings and events. Office hours are: Monday- Friday 8am-4: 30 p.m. between September 2019-July 2020 excluding federal holidays and days that Simpson College is closed.
As this is a Campus Compact AmeriCorps funded position, hours used for sick, vacation, and holiday leave cannot be counted toward the time needed to successfully complete the term of service; with a maximum of 20% of service hours can be used for training, education or other similar approved activities, and a maximum of 10% of service hours for fundraising activities.
