The English Department at Simpson College invites applications for a 1-year Visiting Assistant Professor of Creative Writing. Teaching responsibilities will begin August 2021. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Simpson is a private, nationally recognized regional college grounded in the liberal arts tradition and is located in the Des Moines metropolitan area.
Teaching responsibilities include 6 courses, consisting of creative writing workshops, introductory literature courses, and a first-year seminar. Ideal candidates will have a Ph.D. or MFA in creative writing, or a Ph.D. in a related field and a record of publication of creative writing. Ideal candidates will also have experience teaching literature, creative writing workshops, and writing-intensive courses.
